Daylight!  Let’s go see what there is to eat.

The cook isn’t usually serving this early, but you never know.

It’s slim pickin’s after a snowfall.

Hey!  Cake on a platter!  I like that.

Peanut butter flavor, oats, crunchy seeds — very tasty.

What’s the matter with the big ones?  They seem afraid to come here.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

They don’t know what they’re missing.

They’ll be around when the one with the camera leaves.

Later!

  1. Oh, how to choose? I love them all! It’s especially fun because these are the same birds that come to eat at my place 🙂 My bird drama story from the past month: my feeder is near my suet feeder. I saw a woodpecker at the suet feeder who seemed to keep pestering a bird at the regular feeder. Soon I realized that the bird was trying to get away, but couldn’t — his foot was stuck! I ran out with the girls and took down the feeder. Poor bird (a sparrow I think) was frantic! One of the girls ran to get a screwdriver which I used to pry apart the two wires that the bird’s foot had gotten wedged between. His little eyes were watching the whole time! Soon he was freed — I was worried he would have been hurt, but he quickly flew away. Sheesh, the drama!!

  2. I love them all but the chickadeedeedee is probably my favorite. I found one at our back door recently, with somewhat of a concussion. I put him in a paper bag and let him chill out for awhile. When I thought he was ready to release, he still seemed a bit confused. He lingered awhile on the back step and then finally flew off, much to my relief. I love watching the birds. Your photos were wonderful.

    1. Thank you, Jill! We had a baby woodpecker once that we named “Bumper” because he ran into the sliding glass door and was momentarily knocked out. He revived and flew away.
